The Path of Creation

How far can the possibilities of the motorcycle be taken?

Free from convention, pursuing mechanical rationality, and uniting original technology with beauty of form. The history of Vyrus, born in Rimini, Italy, carries the passion of one engineer who has pursued the ideal motorcycle.

Skills honed in frame building, experience gained in racing, and a special machine shaped by the hands of craftsmen. A journey that began in a small workshop grew into an original brand that captivates motorcycle enthusiasts around the world.

It all began with one engineer's curiosity.

Ascanio Rodorigo, the founder of Vyrus. His roots as an engineer lie in DEMA, the workshop led by the Italian frame builder Dervis Macrelli.

Macrelli, who also worked with Massimo Tamburini, built many motorcycles. Having learned his craft under him and gained further experience at Bimota, Rodorigo set out to explore the depth of chassis design and the possibility of changing how a motorcycle rides through engineering.

In January 1985, he founded his own workshop.

The work began with modifying existing motorcycles to draw out greater performance and refinement.

Setting up and improving racing machines, modifying frame structures, building fairings, porting engines. The scope of the work steadily expanded, from the pursuit of performance for racing to building special machines for customers who wanted something unique.

Not simply accepting a finished product as it is, but drawing out new possibilities through his own skill.

In that accumulation of work lay the origin of the original craftsmanship that would later lead to Vyrus.

Proven technology, honed on the track.

The pursuit of the ideal also turned toward the world of racing.

Ascanio Rodorigo himself competed in the European and Italian championships in the Supertwins and Battle of the Twins categories, winning championship titles in 1998 and 1999.

The circuit is where technology is truly put to the test. The structure of the chassis, the precision of every part, each mechanism that determines performance on track. The experience accumulated in competition further refined the skills cultivated in the workshop.

In time, the work became known beyond Italy's borders.

Requests to build special motorcycles came from Japan, the United States, countries across Europe and from within Italy.

They came from people who sought a value different from that of mass-produced machines, and who needed Rodorigo's skill to give shape to their own ideals.

Facing the different wishes of each customer and pouring in the knowledge and experience he had built up, the workshop deepened its own technology and creativity.

2002. An ideal takes shape.

Skills refined over many years and experience gained in racing. They came together in a new form: the prototype of the 984, built in 2002.

From improving motorcycles made by other manufacturers to creating a machine from its own design philosophy.

The 984, symbol of that transition, adopted hub-center steering, fundamentally different from the conventional telescopic fork.

A mechanism that achieves the functions of steering and suspension through its own structure. A rare motorcycle that does not hide its complex mechanics, but expresses function itself as part of its form.

Unveiled at an exhibition, the 984 drew a strong response, and inquiries and orders arrived from around the world.

It was the moment when the skills and experience built up in the workshop were recognized in the form of an original motorcycle.

With this success, Vyrus began a new chapter as a manufacturer creating motorcycles that bear its own name.

Mechanical rationality, and the beauty beyond it.

From a frame-building workshop, through the world of racing, to a manufacturer of original motorcycles.

What has been cultivated along the way is a commitment to pursuing the motorcycle as one complete machine, never separating function from form.

Intricately combined linkages, original frame structures, metal finished down to the smallest detail. Vyrus motorcycles embody the structural beauty inherent in machines and the meticulous work of craftsmen's hands.

Pursuing cutting-edge engineering while building each machine by hand. This philosophy is an extension of the skills and experience handed down since the workshop was founded in 1985.

From Rimini, Italy, to the world.

A passion for technology and an endless pursuit of the ideal. The history of Vyrus continues to be written, together with the challenge of creating original motorcycles.

The People Behind Vyrus

Specialist skills and experience from many fields come together to create a single motorcycle. Engineers, technicians and craftsmen bring their knowledge and creativity, turning innovative ideas into reliable mechanisms.

Advanced engineering and meticulous handcraft. The passion of the people who sustain that fusion shapes the originality of Vyrus.
